Pink Floyd
In pink Floyd “The Wall” the music
video seems to convey the fact that school is meant to be unimaginative and
boring. By using imagery to convey the theme of sameness the kids wear masks
that don’t have real faces and are all exactly the same, this explains the
lyrics “just another brick in the wall.” Also by using imagery pink Floyd seems
to suggest that the kids are in some sort of internment camp, something similar
to Nazism. This is depicted in the symbols of hallways and large rooms where
the children seem to be locked in or kept.
Also in the video it is very relevant as in the first part when the
teacher takes away his poems it shows a sort of resistance, this is very much
shown in the lyrics and then enhanced and revealed with the poem making. The
tone that seems to be in the video and the music itself is very rebellious also
as it seems to want to break free of the conformity even though that is all
there is in this world of the video, the students don’t really reflect this unless
the focal point is only on the boy in the beginning in which case it is very
reflective.
