Every breath you take by the police

Every breath you take and every move you make
Every bond you break, every step you take, I'll be watching you
Every single day and every word you say
Every game you play, every night you stay, I'll be watching you
Oh, can't you see you belong to me
How my poor heart aches with every step you take
Every move you make, every vow you break
Every smile you fake, every claim you stake, I'll be watching you
Since you've gone I've been lost without a trace
I dream at night, I can only see your face
I look around but it's you I can't replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep crying, "Baby, baby, please"
Oh, can't you see you belong to me
How my poor heart aches with every step you take
Every move you make and every vow you break
Every smile you fake, every claim you stake, I'll be watching you
Every move you make, every step you take, I'll be watching you
I'll be watching you
Every breath you take and every move you make
Every bond you break, every step you take (I'll be watching you)
Every single day and every word you say
Every game you play, every night you stay (I'll be watching you)
Every move you make, every vow you break
Every smile you fake, every claim you stake (I'll be watching you)
Every single day and every word you say
Every game you play, every night you stay (I'll be watching you)
Every breath you take and every move you make
Every bond you break, every step you take (I'll be watching you)
Every single day and every word you say
Every game you play, every night you stay (I'll be watching you)
Every move you make, every vow you break
Every smile you fake, every claim you stake (I'll be watching you)
Every single day and every word you say
Every game you play, every night you stay (I'll be watching you)

In the "Every breath you take" by the police, the use of repetitiveness is used as a sort of primary source to describe the happenings of his life. Lacking the apparent poetic-ism of other songs but gets across a very clear point in my view, This is an addiction song yet in a completely different way as he is addicted to a person not a drug but some do say love is the strongest drug so you can be addicted to it. He uses one phrase constantly and how he in some respects seems to actually hate her but also really loves her as he says "every step you take(ill be watching you)" meaning he is almost staking her which is by far an addiction, he cant stay away from her and he has resorted to watching her while she doesn't know, and he also says how he is there almost all of the time with the line "every move you make" saying he is there for every move. Also the fact that he feels pain when he is not with her, he pleads with her to stay, and like a strong drug he is "cold" and "longs for her embrace. Also mentioning that she is something he cant replace, with many drug users once they have taken, to take away the drug it is as though there is something missing just like her being away from him. This is a much different kind of addiction than normal drug addiction but in the end has the same effects as many drugs all the way to the extent (in some cases) to killing ones self or even hurting ones self. He also says his "heart aches" and that she belongs to him, this is also very prevalent to drug addiction as when one is addicted to drugs they believe they have a right to the drug and if they don't have it they are longing for more of it.

needle and the damage done by Neil young

I caught you knockin'
at my cellar door
I love you, baby,
can I have some more
Ooh, ooh, the damage done.

I hit the city and
I lost my band
I watched the needle
take another man
Gone, gone, the damage done.

I sing the song
because I love the man
I know that some
of you don't understand
Milk-blood
to keep from running out.

I've seen the needle
and the damage done
A little part of it in everyone
But every junkie's
like a settin' sun.

In Neil young's "needle and the damage done" The use of imagery is very relevant to his addiction to heroin. He starts off by introducing someone knocking on his door, this is for the purpose of either saying they need money for heroin or they want to do it with him, or in as i found out this could also be the addiction itself a description of the sweetness and greatness of it, because cellar door is the best sounding phrase in the English language, which could translate to the song as what heroin feels like.  Then he mentions how he "lost his band" this could either represent the time in which him and his band broke up or it could be he lost his band, which is a common thing with heroin to pop the vein out when you insert the needle. He goes into the people that he has seen become addicts. Then in the next stanza he goes shows a huge part in how he is addicted, by saying "Milk-blood to keep from running out." this actually means he takes some of his blood because some of the heroin is left over in the blood so it is to keep from running out of heroin, or it could also be to save good blood before he uses the needle. Then the last sentence wraps it up by basically asserting that addicts fade away. This is all in the mold of other songs similar as he has struggles staying away from these drugs. This seems to be the biggest part, obviously, because an addiction means that you have to have and he clearly show this as he describes his constant struggle through the world of an addict. He actually says the damage done, this meaning he knows what it does and what it id to him and how once the damage has been done it cant be undone at least not without time.

"Going Through Changes"

[Ozzy]
I'm going through changes
I'm going through changes

[Eminem]
Lately I really, feel like I'm rolling for delph like Philly, :allusion
I feel like I'm losing control of myself, I sincerely,
Apologize if all that I sound like is I'm complaining,
But life keeps on complicating, an' I'm debating,
On leaving this world, this evening, even my girls,
Can see I'm grievin', I try and hide it,
But I can't, why do I act like I'm all high and mighty,
When inside, I'm dying, I am finally realizing I need help.
I can't do it by myself, too weak, 2 weeks I've been having ups and downs,
Going through peaks and valleys, dilly dallying,
Around with the idea, of ending the shit right here.
I'm hatin' my reflection, I walk around the house tryin' to fight mirrors,
I can't stand what I look like, yeah, I look fat, but what do I care?
I give a f**k, only thing I fear, is Hailie,
I'm afraid if I close my eyes I might see her,
Shit..

[Chorus]

[Eminem]
I lock myself in the bedroom, bathroom, nappin' at noon,
Yeah dad's in a bad mood, he's always snappin' at you.
Marshall what happened at you, you can't stop with these pills,
And you've fallen off with your skills, and your own fans are laughin' at you.
It become a problem you're too pussy to tackle, get up,
Be a man, stand, a real man woulda had this shit handled.
Know you just had your heart ripped out and crushed,
They say Proof just flipped out, homie just swift out and bust,
Nah, it ain't like Doody to do that,
He wouldn't f***in' shoot at, no-body, he fights first,
But dwellin' on it only makes the night worse,
Now I'm poppin Vic's, perks and Methadone pills.
Yeah Em, tight verse, you killed it,
F***in' drug dealers hang around me like "yes man",
And they gon' do whatever I says when, I says it,
It's in their best interest to protect their investment.
And I just lost my f***in' best friend, so f**k it, I guess then...

[Chorus]

Don't know what I'm gonna do, but I just keep on going through changes...

My friends can't understand this new me,
That's understandable man, but just think how bananas you'd be,
You'd be an animal too, if you were trapped in this fame and caged in it like a zoo.
And everybody's lookin' at you, what you want me to do,
I'm startin' to live like a recluse and the truth is,
Fame startin' to give me an excuse, to be at a all time low.
I sit alone in my home theatre, watchin' the same damn DVD,
Of the first tour, the last tour, he was still alive.
And it hurt sore, fast forward, sleepin' pills'll make me feel alright.
And if I'm still awake in the middle of the night,
I just take a couple more, yeah you're motherf***in' right,
I ain't slowin' down for no one, I am almost homeward bound.
Almost in a coma, yeah homie come on, dole 'em out
Daddy, don't you die on me, daddy, better hold your ground.
Fuck, don't I know the sound of that voice,
Yeah baby hold me down.

[Chorus]

[Eminem]
Wake up in the hospital, full of tubes, plus somehow I'm pullin' through.
Swear when I come back I'ma be bulletproof.
I'ma do it just for Proof, I think I should state a few,
Facts, cause I may not get a chance again to say the truth.
Shit it just hit me that what if I would notta made it through?
I think about the things I would have never got to say to you,
I'd never get to make it right, so here's what I came to do.
Hailie this one is for you, Whitney and Alaina too,
I still love your mother, that'll never change,
Think about her every day, we just could never get it together.
Hey, wish there was a better way, for me to say it,
But I swear on everything, I'd do anything for her on any day.
There are just too many things, to explain, when it rains,
Guess it pours, yes it does, wish there wasn't any pain.
But I can't pretend there ain't, I ain't placin' any blame,
I ain't pointin' fingers, heaven knows i've never been a saint.
I know it just feels like we just pissed away our history,
But just today, I looked at your picture, almost if to say,
I miss you self consciously, wish it didn't end this way.
But I just had to get away, don't know why,
I don't know what else to say, I guess I'm.

In the song "going through changes" by Eminem the heavy use of of imagery and allusion to describe his tough times throughout his addiction. He describes his addiction to pills and how it puts him in all time lows in his life and he begins by saying and repeating that he wanted to die and "leave" and this is an obviously a direct result of of being addicted to drugs. This could also be a huge factor in his addiction to pills, as it is a sad time in his life. The use of pills also seems to have made him not care what people think or see of him, but he hates his reflection as he says in the first paragraph. Then he seems to be afraid of Hailie his first daughter for he doesn't want to have her see him like this.  He also mentions in the song "proof" in the second stanza, and how he "swift out and bust" this is seeming to mean he did something irrational, he proceeds to tell the listener shot at somebody, and he doesn't say right then but proof also died.  He continues by saying he cant think about it and when he does he takes these pills. This leads to the huge addiction he must have. This is because he says at the end that drug dealers hang around and do what he says, this is because he does so many drugs, that to leave would be to loose money, due to the fact he buys so much.  This relates back because drugs seem to have made him not happier like he wants to be but they make him sadder and angrier as opposed to the not depressed state he is looking for. This also leads to him being scared to let his daughters see him and eventual divorce of his wife, which happened earlier in his life.

theme thing 1

Mothers little helper by The Rolling stones
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=mothers+little+helper+lyrics

What a drag it is getting old
"Kids are different today,"
I hear ev'ry mother say
Mother needs something today to calm her down
And though she's not really ill
There's a little yellow pill
She goes running for the shelter of a mother's little helper
And it helps her on her way, gets her through her busy day
"Things are different today,"
I hear ev'ry mother say
Cooking fresh food for a husband's just a drag
So she buys an instant cake and she burns her frozen steak
And goes running for the shelter of a mother's little helper
And two help her on her way, get her through her busy day
Doctor please, some more of these
Outside the door, she took four more
What a drag it is getting old
"Men just aren't the same today"
I hear ev'ry mother say
They just don't appreciate that you get tired
They're so hard to satisfy, You can tranquilize your mind
So go running for the shelter of a mother's little helper
And four help you through the night, help to minimize your plight
Doctor please, some more of these
Outside the door, she took four more
What a drag it is getting old
"Life's just much too hard today,"
I hear ev'ry mother say
The pusuit of happiness just seems a bore
And if you take more of those, you will get an overdose
No more running for the shelter of a mother's little helper
They just helped you on your way, through your busy dying day

In the Rolling stones song "mothers little helper" the reference of mothers little helper is to Valium, and the use of metaphor and repetition further increases the value of what is said.  The line "running to the shelter of a mothers little helper" is where the metaphor is although this can be thought of in many different ways, i believe it is either a metaphor for the cabinet that the pills are in or it could be personification calling the pills a sort of safe house in which a mother could run and hide in. This would further the idea that this drug is a feel good drug that may cause happiness from the beginning, and get worse as time goes by. This mother in particular starts off talking one of the pills and slowly goes u and begins taking four at a time, this is implied to be a bad thing of course. The way it seems like an addiction is because she will go to the doctor take four pills and then ask for more of them, each time during the day the amount of pills go up, this directly correlates to addiction. Not only that but with the repetition that is present with "they just helped her on her way, through her busy day." and the change in the end to "your dying day" symbolizes that if they take to many they will probably die, and to make it worse they changes it to you, to make it more personal. He also mentions an overdose, this immediately makes it scarier. Also he ends with the you to kind of say that it could happen to anybody even you, or he could be referring to himself as the one who might take them. This is why addiction's bad.

pink floyd the wall

                                                              Pink Floyd

In pink Floyd “The Wall” the music video seems to convey the fact that school is meant to be unimaginative and boring. By using imagery to convey the theme of sameness the kids wear masks that don’t have real faces and are all exactly the same, this explains the lyrics “just another brick in the wall.” Also by using imagery pink Floyd seems to suggest that the kids are in some sort of internment camp, something similar to Nazism. This is depicted in the symbols of hallways and large rooms where the children seem to be locked in or kept.  Also in the video it is very relevant as in the first part when the teacher takes away his poems it shows a sort of resistance, this is very much shown in the lyrics and then enhanced and revealed with the poem making. The tone that seems to be in the video and the music itself is very rebellious also as it seems to want to break free of the conformity even though that is all there is in this world of the video, the students don’t really reflect this unless the focal point is only on the boy in the beginning in which case it is very reflective.

Too easy

1st stanza:
He starts off talking about presumably this piece of work and a pad of paper as his "canvas" He then utilizes a repetition of words and profanity to say that he can "paint it" how he wants to or meaning he can write what he wants, whatever he wants. Then he refers to the fact that the song is not right or wrong its just that, a song meaning it doesn't have to be good or bad it is just something that he wrote.  He continues by thinking about his old house, because he left to rap, and he thinks back to his mother being foreclosed, "snatched"  because she couldn't pay the loan. Then he continues by explain how he feels bad for leaving her there and how he was young and was only interested in per-say coitus He only continues to talk about how bad he feels about leaving her there. And he reminisces about how he needs to spend more time together.

2nd stanza:
He starts to talk about how he is always moving around, then he starts off with self hype, followed by him questioning those who dislike his songs, and why they dislike it, and he talks about how when he writes he isn't slaking he is never lazy he always has his best work.  He most likely then alludes to friend he left behind that used to be on him because he started to make money thus his mention of the expensive watches.  And he follows up by saying he gave the original of what he writes and most likely someone took it and used it as his or her own and he is now on the top of the world and he finds it easy

Hook:
He in my opinion seems to be referring to a hard time in his life in which he did something wrong, but had a guardian angel of some sort, but he doesn't know why they helped him when he did so wrong. This is why he is a rapper and is making money

modest proposal

 A modest proposal; obesity yea!
America: a beautiful place; flowers, cities, fast food, technology, towns, friends, melting pots. America is awesome! Right? Is that not what we all believe, you, me, our neighbors, cousins, I mean everybody thinks that, we even sucked in people from other countries, some of them come here to live better lives, some to sell drugs, some because they have to, because everybody still knows that for whatever your reason is, America is awesome. Yet there is another term that America has adopted that is under the same prefixes, some people know about it, but this is much worse. This is a major problem. That thing is not awesome; it is obesity…dun dun dunnnnn.  Everybody knows someone that is, I know someone that is, I am someone that is but that’s ok because hell I’m not alone, and probably never will be at this rate. So I would humbly like to present my plan for American skinniness, I shall call it the Twig movement. The more I think about it the more real it gets. Why do we never win the Olympics, or why do we always win but the person’s name is always like Asian or Russian, but we win, well the reason is we export those great athletes from different counties, we only have like 4 athletes in every Olympics each one is from a different European country. This is because we are over populated by the obese; we can’t compete so we buy people to compete, what is that malarkey, like really.  To continue has anybody ever notice the fact that the most controversial thing in New York in like 2010 was the mayor getting rid of Big Gulp drinks, like are we all fat do we need this overly large cup to drink from? Well if you don’t think so, then I’d get to talking to some new yorkas because apparently they really care that their drink is SUPER SIZED, like we all need that.  Plus what the hell are we going to do when a war roles around and we send 300 pound men and women into the army and they get to like 250 and we have to attack, yea nothing were going to send obese people to this county to try to kill skinny people who move much faster than we do.  So this all brings upon my main point the coup’ d’état, my idea the most amazing thing heard by anybody ever and you guys get to hear it first. So think about this, where are skinnies located? You got it, yea I bet you all had the same answer… Africa… What did you say…Africa…Don’t be afraid…Africa… Say it like you mean it…F*****g Africa… ok ok calm it down there reader don’t need to get rambunctious. But you are correct Africa, if, in theory we send every single obese person to Africa how could we have a fat country?  The thing is how do I know who is obese and who is just dense and “thick boned“ well I have come up with an answer, a specialized “You’re going to Africa” chart. So if you are 4 feet and under and obese end of story you are going in a stew and being sent to other starving countries, but if you are 4’1 through 5 feet tall you can only be 150, yea then if you are bigger than that you’re going to Africa.  5’1 to 6’ tall and you can be 200 pounds, with a body fat to muscle ratio of 2-1 so if you are 50% fat and 25% muscle, by by fatso, if your 1-2 then I guess you can stay, then you may ask “what is your 1-1 ratio, well then in that case you get to go on a boat to a special place called the bottom of the ocean because then you would be like mostly water and bone, and that’s weird  and no person in Africa is going to want you.  If you are 6’1” to 7’ then you may weigh 250 with the same index as listed above, if over 7 feet, you are a freak of nature and probably a basketball player so you can probably stay.  Transportation will be achieved in the best possible way this is you buying your own plane ticket and leaving, and if you do not leave you will be burned alive on a stake in public for humiliation and execution, and be aflame for 24-48 hours cause there is extra stuff to burn.  Once in Africa a system of bidding will occur, the African people may bet on you, since their currency is more than likely beans we will take the beans show them to you and proceed to throw them in the trash, we won’t even recycle them. Once sold to this family they are allowed to trade you, sell you, eat you, leave you to die, or anything that you can physically think they could do to you they can and will, this may lead to death but that’s ok, its the price for skinny. Since Africa is so skinny we assume they cannot feed their own family let alone you so more than likely half of you will get eaten and should get eaten, if this does not work and the fattys' bodies do not start to eat themselves and or the obese people do not start eating themselves, then a full blown atomic attack will ensue and Russia will be destroyed so that the African people and you may migrate there where it is cold and your bodies will die quickly because you will have attempted to migrate thousands of miles for death and coldness.  This will for starts help the African population to thrive, or die either or, not only that but back in the US of A there will be a bunch of extra food, this we can give to other starving countries which are not Africa and help them get fit and strong and not scrawny and weak.  Also this will help our relations with china because once the fatty’s come back almost dead they can start building muscle and making stuff again then we will be out of debt with china. And able to fend them off, plus china will respect us fit not fat humans. Now with such a strong well-built plan I always anticipate pointless questions that must be answered. Such as “Aren’t we just killing people,”  Well my answer to that is yes kind of, but we have overpopulation as it is we could use a few deaths here and there and probably all over Africa. Another question or annoying statement might be,” Most of America is fat we will have nobody left.” I would say that is true cause it is but we have food the universal solver of world peace, and now that the fats are gone we have all the food in the world at our disposal, plus we have already imported people from other countries so we have some people. One last question might arise “ now that we have all that food mightent the skinnies get fat.” No cause we will kill them if they do. If we are a skinny country we win the Olympics with dudes name Bob Johnson and dudets named Sarah smith,   we fight any war and win, plus we all feel good and can interact with each other in probably a more ahhem, a uh bow chica wow wow, way if I may say.  Now I also thought of working out and eating right as a ok way to make America skinnier, but that seems oddly pointless plus haven’t we been trying this for years, yea no that is a poor choice Africa seems to be the most sophisticated and well rounded idea.
