Cover songs
I knew you were trouble by Taylor swift
Cover by Walk off the earth i knew you were trouble
Comparison:
The original song is more in depth and has a little more emotion to it, each lyrics is more deliberate and meant to be delivered exactly as is. The music, the tone is very similar in how these two songs are proposed. The instrumentals are completely different as the cover is an a Capella with four or five people singing it in the background. It gives the newer song a better feel. The presentation of the song is different as there is a beat boxer and also is presented as more pop like, its a song that i like that changes the original into a masterpiece which has rhythm and great flow. it makes me feel good when i listen because the people are talented the tone in the music is much happier as they are all into it and as i type this i listen because i like it and its attuned to me so i am the audience i guess.

500 word analysis/comparison of topic.
My topic was about addiction and or drugs in general. In music drugs are one of the most sung about topics.Almost every rap song has a reference or a direct line that implies drugs. Such as the song coco, which is about the artists love of cocaine. although this is not really an addiction its more of a brag that he does cocaine, it is still relevant to drugs, because they are everywhere. Drugs can be reference in many ways such as marijuana which is mentioned in so many ways, it gets hard to count. But drugs are very different from addictions, drugs can be done for fun and not have someone addicted while addictions are a necessity and that plays out throughout my song playlist. Starting with my first song It mentions little helpers, pills to keep pain away and help stay focused and awake. These mothers need more and more, eventually just to get throughout the day, and it says throughout the song about certain things that its hard and eventually the mother cant get to the shelter and will die meaning overdose which is key to addiction. This compares to just about all the songs, as each one mentions the same general thing. That one thing is that they cant live without the drug they are addicted to. Even if they are living without it they are incomplete or unhealthy and don't feel right. The song on my list that almost perfectly sums it up is the one song that is not about drugs but is still about addiction. "Every breathe you take" by the police is an addiction song that is about his addiction to a girl, he is addicted to the love he feels for her, and it says he feels empty without her and that there is basically a void in his body. He mentions stalking her and looking all around for her which is what happens with all these songs. They have lost something (that something being their addiction, drug) and they search and search and feel empty until they have found it. Another huge similarity is the feeling of just dying, the fact that without said drug they feel like death and with the drug they feel like dying still. This is the main point and constant reminder in "i feel like dying" by Lil Wayne. Another reoccurring theme within my theme is the fact that there is always a reason they become addicts usually something stressful or scary or something of the sort. From mamas little helper its the struggles of being a mother, Going through changes its the death of his friend proof, needle and the damage done is because he "lost [his] band" as he says in the song, Every breathe you take its him losing his girlfriend or her not loving him. In under the bridge he has a fight with the band, and last but not least i feel like dying is the odd man out, as he just would get high, there was more than likely an underlying cause, like the fame and the stress to impress but no real issue like that pops up in the song explicitly. All of the song it very well under this category and connect in some big ways.

Sunday candy
In this song by chance the rapper it describes a seemingly happy mood, to me the tone and music to the song is happy along with the lyrics. These describe how he loves his grandmother and his constant reference to church. i think that is a really happy song because the lyrics solicit happiness to me and it all in all is a happy song as he mentions how his grandmother is and how much she loves him and the lord and his brother. It also mentions all the times he should go to church and the eating of the bread.

Stan:
When i listen to this song it is all in all just an upsetting song. It is kind of out there when you listen to it and it might not make all people upset when they listen to it, but when you get down to the meaning it is something that could absolutely happen, a fan who is a little bit out there and is per say in love with the artist, and would do anything. It is just ironic because the writer of the letters is very impatient seeming and doesn't give the artist much time to reply especially with him being so busy all the time. By the end the writer is insane and under the influence and had his girlfriend in the trunk and killed her with her child, it is upsetting, considering that within the next few days that Eminem gets back to him and lets him know he wasn't ignoring him and just busy, so to me that is sad and almost depressing and scary, also i believe he has had something like this happen to him, not exactly but similar.

1. American Pie
One of the most poetic songs i have ever heard. After reading the lyrics, the whole song is based off something else and involves a lot of poetic ism in general
2. sympathy for the devil
In this song the imagery is very apparent and has all of the key things for one of the most poetic songs ever. It continues throughout the whole song.
3. Me and bobby McGee
Fantastic song in general with great rhythm. It is very poetic and uses metaphors everywhere and a seeming underlying theme.
4. Maggie Mae
Intense imagery throughout the song. The fact that he describes one thing throughout and he provides good lyrics throughout makes this one of the best.
5. yellow Submarine
The Beatles what else can you say? Most likely on acid or LSD when they wrote this song it is all imagery and very out there in general using all of the poetic devices you could want.
6. Hotel California
A bunch of imagery and similes throughout the song, making it one of the best lyrical and poetic songs but also one of the best songs in general.
7. The times they are changin
Its Bob Dylan, nough said.
8. Tenderly
Personification brought to an extreme level in general it is a short song but it is extremely lyric based.
9. killing me softly with his song
By describing how the love is killing you and going in with extreme imagery another fantastic song which deserves top 10
10. Silent night
Classic winter song also really worth it, i dont k now much about the song but oh well.

"Under The Bridge"
Sometimes I feel
Like I don't have a partner
Sometimes I feel
Like my only friend
Is the city I live in
The city of angels
Lonely as I am
Together we cry
I drive on her streets
'Cause she's my companion
I walk through her hills
'Cause she knows who I am
She sees my good deeds
And she kisses me windy
I never worry
Now that is a lie
[2x]
I don't ever want to feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way
It's hard to believe
That there's nobody out there
It's hard to believe
That I'm all alone
At least I have her love
The city she loves me
Lonely as I am
Together we cry
[2x]
I don't ever want to feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way
Under the bridge downtown
Is where I drew some blood
Under the bridge downtown
I could not get enough
Under the bridge downtown
Forgot about my love
Under the bridge downtown
I gave my life away
Like I don't have a partner
Sometimes I feel
Like my only friend
Is the city I live in
The city of angels
Lonely as I am
Together we cry
I drive on her streets
'Cause she's my companion
I walk through her hills
'Cause she knows who I am
She sees my good deeds
And she kisses me windy
I never worry
Now that is a lie
[2x]
I don't ever want to feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way

It's hard to believe

The red Hot chilli peppers "under the bridge" utilizes personification to effortlessly describe the struggles that he goes through with drugs. Starting off the songwriter sings about his feeling of loneliness, this will persist throughout the song, but this first stanza implies that he is with someone but he feels like he is not, then he continues by saying his only friend is the city he lives in which is Los Angeles. This is saying that the city supports him, the people in it but they somewhat combine as a single entity and he sees it as the city itself. Then he says they cry together, this could be the rain in the city or the people could be upset because of his addiction, even though it isn't quite said what his addiction is yet it is somewhat learned later. Some background to this song is that the singer/songwriter is was having problems with some of the other band members of the band so he has a lot of time, and may feel as though he is alone sometimes. So in the next stanza when he says he walks through the hills and streets he may literally be walking through the streets and hills of the city because he has so much time alone at this point because of his fight with his band mates. He then says in the chorus he never wants to feel the way he did that day ever again, this alludes to his drug problem and how bad it was and how he never wanted to be that again. The next line could be taken two ways one being that he wants to be high again he wants to go back to that place again and the second interpretation is that he is talking about the city that he loves and he wants to be back there. He then says its hard to believe he is alone, which is just a repetition of the first stanza. The very last stanza is where he says his addiction, when he talks about drawing blood under the bridge, this clearly shows it was heroin. He shows all the signs off addiction in the last four lines where he says he forgets his love and gave his life away, meaning he has spent his whole life on heroin and it has destroyed it, and he regrets it.

"I Feel Like Dying" lil wayne
"I Feel Like Dying" lil wayne
Only once the drugs are done, that I feel like dying... I feel like dying
Only once the drugs are done, that I feel like dying... I feel like dying
Only once the drugs are done, that I feel like dying... I feel like dying
(I feel like, I feel like, I feel like...)
Yeah, hello...
Get lifted...
Yeah, I get lifted
Yeah, yeah, so get lifted... yup! Haha...
I am sittin' on the clouds, I got smoke comin' from my seat
I can play basketball with the moon, I got the whole world at my feet
Playin' touch football, on marijuana street
Or, in a marijuana field, you are so beneath my cleets
Get high, so high, that I... feel... like... lying
Down in a cigar, roll me up and smoke me 'cause...
(I feel like dying)
Only once the drugs are done, that I feel like dying... I feel like dying
Only once the drugs are done, that I feel like dying... I feel like dying
(I feel like, I feel like, I feel like...)
Swimming laps around a bottle of Louis the Thirteenth
Jumpin' off of a mountain into a sea of Codeine
I'm at the top of the top, but... still I climb
And if I should ever fall, the ground would then turn to wine
Pop, pop, I feel like flying, then I feel like frying, then...
(I feel like dying)
Only once the drugs are done, that I feel like dying... I feel like dying
Only once the drugs are done, that I feel like dying... I feel like dying
(I feel like, I feel like, I feel like...)
I can mingle with the stars, and throw a party on Mars
I am a prisoner, locked up behind Xanax bars
I have just boarded a plane, without a pilot
And violets are blue, roses are red
Daisies are yellow, the flowers are dead
Wish I can give you this feeling... I feel like buying
And if my dealer don't have no more, then...
(I feel like dying)
Only once the drugs are done, that I feel like dying... I feel like dying
Only once the drugs are done, that I feel like dying... I feel like dying
Only once the drugs are done, that I feel like dying... I feel like dying
Only once the drugs are done, that I feel like dying... I feel like dying

In "i feel like dying" by Lil Wayne the use of metaphors and personification are a huge factor in the way hes addicted to drugs. he starts by reflecting on how high he actually is, how intoxicated on marijuana he is. And uses many metaphors to describe it and then proceeds by saying he wants to "lay" down in a cigar" this could also be an addiction and by saying lay down he could be saying he is not high anymore meaning not intoxicated anymore. He says something to the effect of i want to be smoked and killed, this could be almost completely because he isn't high anymore, saying he is addicted. Then in the next verse he continues by saying he is swimming around what i assume to be alcohol and he jumps into "a sea of codeine" a pill, and says he is above the mountain and still climbing as if he gets higher and higher and never stops, and if he were to not be high anymore, he drinks wine whine and could from this actually hit a low point and once again says he wants to die. The last verse truly demonstrates his addiction, as he says "I am a prisoner, locked up behind Xanax bars," this says that he feels trapped by Xanax again another drug, and he cant get free of the bars as a result. The last line is the best example, as he says that if his dealer doesn't have any more of what he wants then he wants to die, which is a thing that happens in addiction, longing for drugs and being upset not having them, and that's how Lil Wayne feels, lost, not the same, like dieing. This song is a great example of an addiction although his addiction is very much spread to different drugs rather than just one.
